Paganini, movie projections, Alexandru Tomescu and the Stradivarius violin. There are the terms of the equation on which a spectacular event was based: the Stradivarius-Caprices tour (2011). Music lovers all over Romania were in awe of this project. This equation had a wonderful result: 16 halls in 16 Romanian cities were absolutely full. In some cities the performance had to be repeated in order to satisfy the high demand. 3.000 people attended the launching if a DVD Alexandru made after the tour.
Alexandru Tomescu loves to be permanently challenged and is always in search of innovating solutions meant to prove classical music is not a domain reserved exclusively to the elite. Thus he accepted to star in a performance that combined a highly demanding score – Paganini’s 24 Caprices for solo violin – with a series of video projections destined to highlight the musical discourse and to present the essence of each Caprice.
The Stradivarius Caprices – Paganini – angel or demon Tour was a total success, an event that resembled to the tour of a rock star if we judge by Alexandru’s popularity and by the huge number of people who attended his recitals. No one could eventually decide whether Paganini was an angel or a demon, but this performance remained unforgettable for all music lovers who saw it.
